Weather: too dark to know in Massachusett, snowy in Detroit, cloudy in Tokyo
Lunch: Tendon @ Detroit Air port
Airline food
Dinner: Chawan mushi, Chirashi lunch box

After a long contemplation, I decided not to take my Mac to Tokyo; it was a big decision for me because I spend a lot of time in front of computer. In stead, I decided to pack my watercolor travel kit this time.

As usual, I slept for only two hours the night before I left. There were simply too many things to take care of before vacating the house for a month.

The first leg of the trip was to Detroit, where I used to come almost every month for interpretation assignments last year.

In fact, I had Sushi dinner at the Sora Restaurant about a year ago with my Japanese clients. Because there was almost a three-hour layover this time, I decided to eat lunch there. It is a weird experiment to see how I feel about the same event before and after the cancer.

Ugh! It was a big mistake. None of the menu items interested me, so I ordered Tendon by a process of elimination. It was full of Tenkasu, and disgustingly sweet. I started having a dumping syndrome after eating 1/3 of the dish. Was it because of the oil they used to fry the shrimp and vegetables?

Luckily the airplane was not too full, and I could have all three seats in the row to myself to lie down. Collecting five pillows from the empty seats around me, I tried my best to sleep off the pain.
